1950's in 2016

I went to Ltrain Vintage and spotted a lady trying this dress on. I was hoping she put it back on the rack. When she did, SNATCHED IT! I'm guessing it's inspired by the 50's.

I loved the conservative nature & classiness of 50's fashion. You couldn't call any female a "thot" or slut shame any woman back in those days...even if you tried.

Ladies wore midi or long dresses & shoes, even at home. Nothing too tight or short. Like they're always ready for company. There were no such thing as "sweatpants, hair tied, chillin' with no makeup on".

Men wore trousers & tucked their shirts in. No pants on the ground in the old days. Sometimes they even wore a tie & this was just for an afternoon grocery shopping trip.

**& no I didn't live the 50's!

How you dress and present yourself are representations of your stature.

I like to cover up, like I'm in the 50's

Here's why:

  1. I'm already shy to begin with
  2. I don't want to attract the wrong attention...
  3. ....from the wrong people
  4. I don't want my body to be the reason why I get opportunities
  5. I like being covered & comfortable
  6. I want to be credited for my skills, not my looks
  7. Showing skin is just unnecessary for me

I don't wear skimpy clothes because it's simply not me.
